January 12th
Woke up to another smoky day. Being a Sunday, we decided to make the most of all day $2.00 max on public transit. Though we usually take the ferry, we decided to catch the 442 bus two blocks from the flat. It took it all the way into the city where we boarded a tram to get us to Circular Quay. It took a lot longer that way, but we got to explore Sydney a bit along the way.
When we arrived at the Quay it started to drizzle. We caught the next ferry to Manly beach. Manly was very crowded. We window shopped for a hour or two and then had a nice lunch. By then it was pouring. It was also getting cool. Fortuitously, we had packed warmer clothes for our New Zealand sojourn. In fact, we have yet to feel the heat of a typical Australia summer. I guess atypical is now the new normal.
