Going Home
We started our journey back on March 12th. Our flight was cancelled and we overnighted, courtesy of Quantas, at the Ridges Hotel at the Sydney airport. The next morning, Friday the 13th, we got up at 6:00am, had breakfast, took off at 10:30 am and landed in LA at 6:00 am Friday 13th. Guy felt like Bill Murray in Groundhog Day.
After a flight to Vancouver, a flight to Kelowna and a taxi ride, we were home by 4:00 pm. We stayed up until we dropped (10pm) and ended the longest Friday the 13th, we have ever experienced. We slept though the night and awoke at 8am when Pauline’s alarm went off.
We headed into Vernon for breakfast, food shopping and confirmed that we now had to self-quarantine for 14 days.
The good news is that it will probably take us that long to get rid of the jetlag and we’ll finally get to finish the books we brought to Australia but did not have time to read😊
We are very happy that we followed our gut and cut short our trip, first taking a hit when we cancelled our original return via Hong Kong on the 27th and then again by rebooking our new flights from the 17th to the 12th. With things changing by the hour, we thought staying an extra 5 days felt a bit iffy.
So happy to be home! See you in a couple of weeks.
